When I didn’t Love you enough

Love for you my darling first born
is beyond measure, by

words, or even by thoughts

But I can count acutely the times
when I didn’t Love you enough
And wish I could take them back

The time when I yelled at you for
quietly adding your strokes on my painting

you haven’t touched my brushes since then

The time I found you had forged
my signature in your little diary
to hide little notes from school

The time my neighbor
had to tell me, you are too little

for all the lessons I insist you learn

The times when I would act paranoid
overstrung about how you performed in
each subject, compared to others in your class

I know you don’t hold any grudge now
cause you still come up with your head bowed
to be held secure in your ma’s embrace
to be instantly forgiven for anything at all

My way of redemption though
has been to let your younger bro
get away with a whole lot
that probably he should not !!
